Virtual Lives Phase 2

Virtual Lives P2 15

Virtual Lives was a collaborative research project between five organisations - Cornerhouse, FACT, folly, Liverpool John Moores University and ICDC.

The first phase of the project looked at developing a better understanding of the new media technologies being used by the young people of today, with the aim to influence and challenge the long-term programming of media arts organisations.

The second phase of this project was really exciting. A group of ten young people from across the Northwest came together to come up with an idea for an interactive media arts project. The group decided to create two interactive body suits that link up wirelessly to a computer, which then relays images and sounds to a screen and speakers. When users put on the suits they became a wireless VJ/DJ. Artist Dan Fox helped the group realise their ideas and helped them build the suits.

Interactive sessions were held at Cornerhouse, Burnley Youth Theatre, FACT, De La Warr Pavilion Marina and in Wythenshawe as part of Refugee Week. Check out the photos!
