LiveWire Studio

About LiveWire Studio

Way back in December 2004 Rebecca McKnight, a group of filmmakers and a group of young people met to work on a funding application to First Light. The application was to make four short films and to apply for £20,000 to do it.  The team came up with the film ideas and the application was sent off. When we received the good news in January 2005 that we had been successful with the application we decided to create LiveWire Studio, a film production house led by the young people that take part in LiveWire.

The idea is that the young people working on LiveWire Studio film productions get involved in all aspects of short filmmaking, from the film finance right through to the film distribution and marketing.

  • In 2005 we made four LiveWire Studio films. They were Another Journey, Tea Leaf, Wired and Every Street Dreams.
  • 2006 saw the first ever LiveWire Film camp and we also did a project with BBC Blast.
